American agencies soon to read your e-mail

According to Declan McCullagh at CNET News a host of various federal agencies in America could be reading your e-mail (and more) in just a week’s time — if a proposed senate bill passes through.

Leahy’s rewritten bill would allow more than 22 agencies — including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Communications Commission — to access Americans’ e-mail, Google Docs files, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter direct messages without a search warrant. It also would give the FBI and Homeland Security more authority, in some circumstances, to gain full access to Internet accounts without notifying either the owner or a judge.

You’ve gotta love being an American. Land of the free? Prrr! And these people have the gall to vomit lies over the supposed dictatorship of Hitler?
