Beware of Jack Tang from cnnic-group.org

This must be generally well-known in the privacy / anti-scamming communities, but nonetheless I wish to make people aware of some sloppy scammers calling themselves Jack Tang (and sometimes “Helen”, i.e helen@cnnic-group.org).

It’s a domain name scamming operation.

Here follows two e-mails, initial one:

Dear President,

Regarding the Domain name dispute and registration case,we did not receive any of your reply until now. Concerning the mentioned Domains and Network Brand please confirm whether you need to register those names by yourselves? If need, please let us know in time, we can send an application form to you. If you think the registration of the above company or the use of following domain names will not bring any negative effect to your company, I suggest you can give up these domain names, then we will accept their application unconditionally. Further questions please contact me in time.

Best Regards,

Jack Tang

And, second e-mail:

Dear President,

Many thanks for your confirmation. As soon as receiving the application of “WIM Trades company”, we checked and found “neophytos” is your company’s registered trademark. So we inform you also that’s reason why we sent email to you.

But you should know that The domain names registration is open in China, The company has right to apply for the available domain names. For this reason the company is also licit applicant and we have no right to reject them. You only own the preferential rights to register them.

In addition, please inform us your company’s decision of this issue. If your company do need to register and protect those domains in China please contact us in time, then we’ll inform you how to register. Or else we think it as your waiver. Thanks for your understanding.

Best Regards,

Jack Tang
Auditing Director.

My replies were clearly of “trolling” nature, but they took my lure..

In any case, just a heads up
